St. Helena Resort

Noble House Hotels & Resorts, a family-owned company with a portfolio of luxury hotels, has proposed the development of an up to 56-room, world-class resort facility on the Charles Krug Winery property located at 2800 Main Street in St Helena, California. The proposal would develop 8.5 acres of currently fallow ground on the Charles Krug winery property, including a one-acre landscape buffer ( TAKE A LOOK ) within the larger 140-acre winery parcel. On-site facilities would include a two-story estate house; 17 one-story villa buildings and 2 two-story villa buildings; and guest rooms in refurbished, historic train cars facing the Napa Valley Wine Train tracks that bisect the larger winery property. A variety of public and visitor-serving amenities are also proposed as part of the resort project, from an organic culinary garden and olive tree grove to meeting and event spaces, swimming pools, and an on-site spa and restaurant. The footprint of the future resort falls within mostly open, fallow acreage (used for staging during the Glass Fire) located off the corner of Highway 29 and Deer Park Road. The larger winery site is bounded by Deer Park Road to the northwest, the Napa River to the northeast, and York Creek and the Beringer Winery facilities to the southeast. The rail line running through the larger winery parcel would remain the northern terminus of the Wine Train route and provide ease of access for both hotel and winery visitors and Wine Train passengers upon the resort’s completion. Access to the site will come from a driveway connecting to Deer Park Road, from the Charles Krug Winery property, and from the Napa Valley Wine Train. The project was envisioned in consultation with Charles Krug Winery and the Peter Mondavi Sr. family, and fits ideally with the goals of the City of St. Helena’s Financing Civic Infrastructure Task Force, which concluded that two new hotels within St. Helena city limits are essential to create new revenue streams to address the city’s budgetary challenges and finance the city’s many infrastructure needs, which include new city facilities, improvements to streets, sidewalks, and water and wastewater treatments plants.
