Works of KOLLABS & Sandy Graves

ÆRENA Galleries and Gardens invites you to celebrate this month’s exhibition featuring the works of KOLLABS & Sandy Graves.

KOLLABS is a collaborative project between artists Luis Garcia Nerey and Anke Schofield. In their work, they create compositions juxtaposing undomesticated animals within domestic and urban environments, highlighting the interaction between wildlife and the human experience. Over the past 15 years, KOLLABS has created works that present an anthropomorphized wilderness that blurs the boundaries between wild and domestic. Through ambiguous narratives, they invite viewers to pause and consider their relationships with nature and one another. It is through this reflection that Anke and Luis hope viewers make connections to the power of nature and within themselves.

Born in Colorado and raised in Nebraska, Sandy Graves first forayed into the art world by presenting work as a child and 4-H member at local county fairs. As she continued her education at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, Graves experimented with a large variety of different mediums, however, she found herself continuously revisiting bronze sculpture. She fell in love with the warmth and beauty of the medium, as well as the intimate interactions and contact the viewers have with bronzes. Graves hopes for her work to remind viewers of special memories in order to create interesting and inviting sculptures.

We invite you to experience this exhibition at any of our galleries or online. Please reach out to your Art Consultant for more information.
