This ceramic hand building course focuses on creating both functional and sculptural forms, while building a strong foundation in studio practice and use of materials.
Students will be encouraged play, experiment, and the develop a sense of personal art style.
Our instructor will meet individually with each student to understand and define goals, interests, and offer guidance for their creative direction!
Students will be encouraged to bring examples of other ceramic artists’ work, other mediums, historical pieces, objects found in nature, or anything that speaks to an aesthetic sensibility and inspires!
Technical demonstrations will include proper attachment and structural integrity, building and altering functional forms, experimenting in textured surfaces, the use of stains, underglaze, washes, mason stain techniques, and alternatives to glazing.
