Late spring and into summer is when “rosé season” is in full force, those -five-or-so-months-a-year that’s generally accepted as the time to drink rosé. Conveniently it’s also a beautiful time to be in Napa Valley. We’ve rounded up some of the St. Helena’s wineries where you can get your pink drink on!
Rosé of Grenache
This wine has just about the lightest pink color possible, very tempting floral and cherry aromas, and vibrant, mouthwatering cherry and grapefruit flavors. It’s essentially light in body but so alive with fruit that it will drink well with almost any dish.
Clif Family Winery celebrates wine, food, and adventure. Visit them, book a tasting on their outdoor patio and share their love of wine, artisan food, and cycling adventures.
Rosé of Pinot Noir
How can anyone pour a glass of pink wine and not be grinning ear to ear, it just beckons happiness. With matching color and strawberry-rhubarb aromas, Markham’s 2017 gains additional complexity from sur-lie aging which provides tons of rich cream & yeasty character. This is a serious Rosé that is not ashamed to have a little fun. Cherry and strawberry flavors are balanced with minerality but punctuated by excitement. Enjoy a glass with a friend and a dozen raw oysters fresh from the sea.
Enjoy tasting their estate and winery-only wines while viewing the latest exhibit in the award-winning art gallery. No appointment is necessary but prior reservations are required for groups of six (6) or more.
Rosato di Sangiovese
The 2017 Rosato di Sangiovese is a sophisticated, Mediterranean-style wine that captures the essence of la dolce vita on the Italian Riviera. It is dry, crisp and as graceful as its pale pink hue. Fantastic with a wide variety of charcuterie, cheese, or served al fresco aside a light summer lunch of mixed greens, fish or chicken.
V. Sattui boasts three tasting rooms to choose from, each offering friendly, knowledgeable service from our expert staff. They offer food and wine experiences that will get you thinking about wine and food in new and delicious ways.
The scent of fresh strawberries in the glass is followed by a lively mix of red fruits on the palate. Soaring acidity is sculpted with delicate tannins and a nip of white pepper adds an assertive note to the finish. The Heitz family has developed great affection for Grignolino since they discovered this Italian grape growing on their original site in 1961. Lightly chilled, it is one of their favorite aperitifs, and of course, it is perfect with your favorite Italian meal.
Heitz Wine Cellars’ Chardonnay, Grignolino, Zinfandel, and Port have also earned their share of ardent fans over the years. Since the winery ranch also includes the Heitz’ family home, they direct visitors to their original site on St. Helena Highway where they have welcomed wine lovers for over half a century.
Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé
2016 Vintage: Louis M. Martini Cellar 254 Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé is crisp and refreshing, redolent of ripe strawberry, watermelon and raspberry. On the palate, flavors of juicy strawberry are complemented by accents of guava and passionfruit. Honey notes shine on the finish, which wraps up with a bit of sweetness.
Louis Martini’s historic winery in the heart of the Napa Valley was among the first to open in the Valley after Prohibition. Now, the exciting new tasting room weaves contemporary luxury into a classic barrel cellar and creates one of Napa’s most memorable experiences.
