Serene, rustic, and independent: Nichelini Family Winery is a pioneer of Napa Valley’s modern wine industry. In 1884, Swiss homesteaders Anton and Caterina Nichelini settled in Napa County’s Chiles Valley. They quickly set about planting vines and olive trees, and by 1895 had constructed a hand-hewn stone winery with a seven-bedroom house above it. That house, winery, and its original Roman wine press still stand today—and have remained in family hands for more than 120 years. The tasting room is open on weekends, or Monday through Thursday by appointment.
