Wheel Throwing, Sculpture & Raku Firing

Wheel Throwing, Sculpture & Raku Firing

Event Details

This intermediate-level ceramics course is designed for students who are comfortable centering and wheel-throwing basic forms, and ready to push their work further—both structurally and conceptually.

Through focused demonstrations and studio practice, students will refine new skills while exploring altered thrown forms, with a new twist on creative composition and silhouette.

Emphasis will be placed on creating intentional forms to serve as strong foundations for expressive techniques in surface treatment.

Ceramic techniques explored will include the ancient use of slip, Terra Sigillata, alternative raku firings, as well as traditional firing levels.

Technical discussions will cover surface preparation, burnishing, slip application, and firing safety.

This course encourages risk-taking and experimentation resulting in the creation of a unified series of focused and finished works of beauty.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and create with Chris!
