Caldwell Snyder Gallery is pleased to present Between Day & Night, an exhibition of new works by acclaimed Parisian painter Gilles Marrey, with an opening reception at the gallery’s historic Star Building location in St. Helena.
Known for his atmospheric depictions of contemporary life, Marrey transforms familiar interiors, urban streetscapes, and landscapes into emotionally resonant scenes through luminous palettes of violets, blues, pinks, and warm oranges.
His paintings invite viewers to slow down and reconsider everyday environments with renewed attention and sensitivity.
Influenced by years of travel throughout the Bay Area and inspired in part by the work of Richard Diebenkorn, Marrey’s practice explores the relationship between structure, light, atmosphere, and lived experience.
Trained in France during the 1980s, he developed a distinctive figurative style rooted in observation while remaining deeply contemporary in feeling and execution.
Set within the heart of Napa Valley, the exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to experience Marrey’s richly layered works in an intimate gallery setting while celebrating the intersection of contemporary art, place, and atmosphere.
Featuring live music from jazz pop artist, Clemon Charles, and wine generously provided by V. Sattui Winery.
Exhibition on view through June 21st
