ORGANIZATION INFO
We Care Animal Rescue offers sanctuary for animals rescued from hopeless situations. For the young and the old, the shy and the bold, the special needs and the quirky breeds we are their home, we are their sanctuary.
We Care Animal Rescue is a cage-free sanctuary to over 250 animals. We honor their lives with an unwavering "no-kill" philosophy. Many of the animals in our care are unsuitable for re-homing due to age, illness or temperament. At We Care the animals are able to live out the remainder of their natural lives in a peaceful, serene sanctuary free from judgement or harm.
For many of the animals, the shelter serves as their forever home while other lucky souls catch the eye of an adopter and get to move on to a home of their own. The sanctuary rescues adult animals, this segment of the population often struggle the most to find the help and care they so desperately need and deserve.
With a free-roaming population we are able to accommodate a much larger feline population than dog population. The sanctuary offers two large buildings for cats each with access to a large open outdoor courtyard. The courtyard provides a covered pavilion where they can be sheltered from the sun and rain year round as well as a big open air space where they can bask in the sun, watch birds fly overhead and spy on the wildlife in the neighboring vineyard.
The dogs have their own building to call home where they enjoy an assortment of beds and they have an abundance of toys for their entertainment. The dogs have access to a huge outdoor dog yard during the day, where they can be found getting into mischief. The dogs enjoy daily walks through the vineyards and dips in the neighboring creek. Since the dogs at We Care share their living quarters with one another this limits the number of dogs we are able to house at any given time. We strive to rescue elderly, special needs or behaviorally challenged dogs. With love and patience these abused, discarded and neglected dogs are given a timeless home until their adopter comes along.
ABOUT OUR ANIMALS
We have many animals that are perfectly healthy and wonderful and their only challenge is they have been dealt a difficult hand in life. We are committed to making their future brighter. For these animals we work to bridge them to their new life by finding them permanent, loving homes.
Visiting We Care is truly a unique experience; visitors get to spend time interacting with the animals while they are roaming freely in their element. We offer visits to the refuge by appointment. Adopters can work with an adoption counselor who can try and match you with an animal that is best suited for your home, family and lifestyle.
ANIMALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
We have always been an advocate for the animals with special needs. We offer a timeless sanctuary to all the animals in our care. The vast majority of the animals at the We Care sanctuary are elderly, medically or behaviorally challenged. We have an entire building that focuses on our special needs and senior animal population.
The feline special needs building offers an outdoor courtyard and all the luxuries of the main shelter but in a quieter, slow-paced atmosphere, in the company of an older population of cats. Many of our elderly animals receive special medical care to promote their health and well-being.
We have been longtime advocates for the under dogs of the feline world: feral, FIV, elderly, behaviorally challenged and leukemia positive cats all deserve shelter, protection and sanctuary. In most shelters these cats would be deemed un-adoptable and euthanized but for us their lives are precious and protected. We offer them a sanctuary where they can be free from harm or judgement. When space permits we work to rescue cats from hopeless situations.
ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY SERVICES & PROGRAMS
We strive to diminish the suffering in the animal community by offering a variety of outreach services to homeless animals. The Savannah Program was created in an effort to be an advocate for the stray animals in our community. We are dedicated to humane, non-lethal solutions to help our animal friends. Our Savannah Program works to fund spay/neuter, medical and food assistance to feral or homeless animal in need. We also work closely with Animal Control facilities to encourage non-lethal solutions for population control within the animal community. The animals need our help and the compassion of the community around them.
