A pioneer in the development of wine country cuisine, Cindy Pawlcyn is the chef and owner of three of Napa Valley’s beloved restaurants: Mustards Grill, Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen and Brassica Mediterranean Kitchen. In 2010 she brought her critically acclaimed ‘farm to table’ philosophy to the world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium as its culinary partner. Since her landmark restaurant Mustards opened in 1983, Cindy has been involved in the creation of over a dozen new restaurants in the Bay Area including Fog City Diner, Bix, Roti, Betelnut, Buckeye Roadhouse and Tra Vigne.
Cindy completed her fifth cookbook to be published by Ten Speed Press in 2012 based on her Supper Club menus at Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen. Her cookbooks include: The James Beard Award-winning Mustards Grill Napa Valley Cookbook; Fog City Diner Cookbook; Big Small Plates; and Cindy Pawlcyn’s Appetizers.

Inspired by the rich and varied flavors of Southern Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East, the dishes of Brassica Mediterranean Kitchen are enhanced by a great selection of wines on tap, by the glass and bottle. Brassica is Latin for the family of plants known as mustards, grown in both the Napa Valley and the Mediterranean, and links the new restaurant with the original Mustards Grill. We welcome you to come and linger over a meal in our dining room or patio, or pop in for a glass of wine and a few small bites in our friendly and comfortable wine bar.

Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen combines a classy supper club with the flair of a speakeasy to create the perfect upscale eatery and neighborhood hang-out. Favorites include the Backstreet Fry and Oysters Pablo, the Chinatown Duck Burger and Mighty Meatloaf. For dessert, enjoy Cindy’s Campfire Pie or Warm Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Mustards Grill

Established by Cindy over 25 years ago, Mustards Grill is a Napa Valley institution. Mustards is well-known for its famed wood-burning grill, as well as its list of “Way Too Many Wines”. Its two-acre organic garden supplies much of the restaurant produce used to create its American Farm-to-Table cuisine. Mustards favorites include the addictive Onion Rings, Cindy’s famous Mongolian Pork Chop and the daily “Truckstop Deluxe.” Don’t miss the famous Lemon-Lime Pie with “that ridiculously tall brown sugar meringue.”
